With Call of Duty still among the country's top-selling PC games, Activision is aiming to further cash in on its success. Today, the publisher announced a new Game of the Year edition of the critically lauded WWII shooter. The new version will feature the original Call of Duty and all of the multiplayer updates released after it was shipped last fall, including new maps, gameplay enhancements, and a mapmaker toolkit. The GOTY edition, which hits stores today, will also feature EAX 3 sound support.

Activision also announced some goodies for PC gamers who are already equipped with Call of Duty's multiplayer mode. The publisher has struck a deal with toymakers Plan-B Toys and Radioactive Clown to create a line of action figures based on the Infinity Ward-designed game. Retailing for $8.99 each, the first series will hit stores next month and will consist of three Allied and three Axis soldiers with the following accessories:

ALLIES:
American 82nd Airborne: Operation Market Garden
Thompson SKG, M1911 with holster, helmet, stick-mag pouch, two canteens, lineman's kit, carlisle pouch, entrenching tool, mussette bag.

American 101st Airborne: D-Day Paratrooper
Thompson SKG, .45 pistol with holster, helmet, stick-mag pouch, one canteen, lineman's kit, carlisle pouch, entrenching tool, mussette bag, parachute rig.

American 101st Airborne: Bastogne

Though no official art has been released for Call of Duty toys, Plan-B has an extensive catalog of military-themed action figures, including 101st Airborne troopers from D-Day and Market Garden, an 82nd Airborne commando, a Waffen-SS NCO, a Waffen-SS MG42 Gunner, and a winter-camo Panzergrenadier. For its part, Radioactive Clown has licensed the action figures for Unreal Tournament 2004 and the 2000 PC game Rune.

Game of the Year edition and action figures aside, Call of Duty has spawned an expansion pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive, which is due by the end of 2004. Also in the works is Call of Duty: Finest Hour, a console adaptation that is currently scheduled to storm GameCubes, Xboxes, and PlayStation 2s this fall.
