Early adopters of Sony's upcoming PSP will be swinging with Spider-Man and skating with Tony Hawk, Activision announced this week. The publisher confirmed in a press release that it does indeed intend to support the launch of the handheld system in the US with two games: Spider-Man 2, which is being developed by Vicarious Visions, and Tony Hawk's Underground 2, which is being developed by Shaba Games.

"[The PSP] is an exciting new platform that combines processing power with a sleek new look that will appeal to an older demographic," said Activision president Kathy Vrabeck. "By matching our top brands like Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and Spider-Man 2 with the new entertainment device, we are able to broaden our consumer base and leverage our franchises into new areas."

Although the two games are expected to launch alongside the hardware, SCEA has not yet nailed down a date when the PSP will hit American retail shelves. Activision will be present at the launch of the Nintendo DS on November 21 with a version of Spider-Man 2.
