After collecting "enthusiastic feedback" from a survey launched in April, GungHo Online Entertainment America will bring classic role-playing game Grandia II to Steam for Windows PC, the company told GameSpot today.
Grandia II for Steam is being remastered using the game's Dreamcast version, which was published in 2000. In addition to an HD visual upgrade, Grandia II on Steam will have both mouse and keyboard and gamepad support as well as Steam achievements and Trading Cards.

The survey GungHo shared last month focused on properties by Game Arts, the studio behind the much-beloved JRPG series Grandia and Lunar, with several questions specifically referencing interest in PC games. Responses indicating a desire for a remastered Grandia II were "overwhelming," according to GungHo, so the company has chosen to move forward with the port.
"With the rise of digital downloads, it is especially important that classic games continue to remain available to play in some form," said president of GungHo America Jun Iwasaki. "Grandia II was chosen for a PC re-release because it represents both a hallmark of the Grandia series and an example of how great JRPGs can be."
What other classic GameArts games do you think should be remastered? Let us know in the comments below.
Come on Sega, just make the PC & Steam your Dreamcast 2 :>
Release a customized Steambox as a "console"Im actually surprised. Not many people played this game back then. I think only a 100k copies of the Dc version was sold. Good game overall. Has some minor faults. The story is well wriiten and well acted but slightly one dimensional. Also the game runs in a bit of a checklist way. Go here then go there and then here. There are not alternate routes or alternate endings. You usually know where you are going. I think theres only 2 instances were a selection affects gameplay more so cut scenes actually. For these reasons the game losses a point and a half. Otherwise its a good game and despite the nitpicking one of my favs.
What the guy below me said.
But WHEN! I NEED TO KNOWWW!!!
I would sell my soul for a Shadow Hearts PC port/remake, but that would be asking the wrong people, sadly.
As for DC games... Skies of Arcadia, yes, please!
Lunar I and II please! <3
Right in my childhood.
xenogears, breath of fire 3 and 4! please in 1080p. those games are epic!!!!!
Seriously? WOW! loved this game.. BUT.. I REALLY wish they'd do Grandia 1 also for steam too.
wait...i had this but even when i was hyped about it, i dont remember it being "acclaimed". Barely anyone liked it if i remember correctly.
This game is tops from GameArts, but someone really should petition Camelot for Shining Force 3, all three chapters.
I missed out on this but will certainly be picking this up.
would love to see alot of those PS1/PS2 era RPG's wind up on the PC, without having to use less than legit methods to play them.
Personally I'd love to see the Suikoden and or the Shin Megami series on Steam.. Not sure if they ever saw a PC release... I'd suspect they didn't..
@OrgeLambart I second this so much.
Lunar 2 eternal blue with better graphic plz plz plz
Plz lunar 2 eternal blue
OMG! YES, thanks... finally, maybe they will even think about extreme version or extra difficulty. Just don't sell it for 30$. Do it for 15-20(max)$ and people will buy it like cookies.
@ROMSES Shouldnt even be worth that much. should be 5.99 tops
If Skies of Arcadia gets the same treatment I will literally punt a squirrel and turn myself in to the police for animal cruelty. Then form a plan of escape so I can go home and play it.
@InFI_Chronos Amen
Skies of Arcadia remake for PC. Do THAT.
@W4rl0ck
Xeno
Gears
@Zloth2 @W4rl0ck yess that game is one of my all time favorites, it never stops getting better threw out the whole game and fei with his gear upgrading was so sick
This game was already on the PC, though.....

@Threesixtyci Yeah, but that version was apparently awful. This one is based off of the Dreamcast version.
I had it for the Dreamcast. Great game.
"What other classic GameArts games do you think should be remastered?" ALL OF THEM
Damn xD And I just bought it for Dreamcast through eBay xD
F me, right?
@MistwalkerZ Nah. Physical is better than digital any day. ;)
Lets hope for skies of arcadia next
@Zombunny Hopefully. My locals had Skies of Arcadia for the Sega Dreamcast but someone just bought it recently. :(
Can remember it... oh back then... bought with gold games 6... oh man... now I can send my poor discs in retirement.
I also wish they would bring grandia 3 to pc.
It's good these games are being resurrected on Steam, so those of us who grew up playing them can see them brushed off and polished up. However it still stings that SEGA stopped making consoles 15 years ago. They always made and attracted the most interesting games. For years their games have appeared on other platforms but the platform, not SEGA, has been given the praise (Valkyria Chronicles etc.) It's sad.
@silpheedx Sega sucked, you seem to forget their horrid add on's to the genesis, Sega CD and Sega 32X, not to mention the Saturn.... The dreamcast was great but was far too little, far too late..
Looking forward to this.
Grandia 1 and 3!
I was hoping for Lunar, but this is just as good. :P
This is great news and I'm glad, but the first Grandia is still better.
@Claudu Yes grandia 2 was just ok.
@Claudu Thanks Kanye
@Claudu the First Grandia suffered from the same issue that many Jrpg's had at the time, childish characters, in fact all the characters were children.. Not to say it was a bad game because it wasn't.
@OrgeLambart @Claudu They were children sure, but pretty awesome and well written children that were very likeable. They acted their age and that's why their adventures felt exciting and true.
People ungrateful to Gaben should recall that for the first time in PC gaming history, we're getting console exclusives on PC, not the other way around like it was the case for two decades. All thanks to Steam's success, showing that games can actually be sold on PC and turn a decent profit.
@Ultramarinus Your avatar is homosexxual.
@MistwalkerZ @Ultramarinus PC gamers will say anything to praise PC.
@guywoodthreep @MistwalkerZ @Ultramarinus aside from it not being a Console Exclusive... this game is so old it's hard to really praise it coming to the PC as evidence that PC gaming is getting some props... Maybe a console exclusive game that was released earlier than the last Decade would be a good start.
@MistwalkerZ @Ultramarinus YES whilst it WAS released on PC already it was NOT a very good port of the game, hence why they are using the Dreamcast version as the foundation and building on that.. making it HD, better sound quality, etc.. the DC version was superior to any other BUT the Steam version will be by FAR the best version to date once it's released.
@Ultramarinus Uhm... This game was released on PC already, so this is a re-release. And since 2002 it isn't a console exclusive o.o
Awesome!
Love this game! It was the first JRPG I ever completed. I hope tons of people who never got to play it get to experience this game!
