Acclaim starts closed betas for Dance!, 2Moons

David Perry-directed imports hit a milestone; interested gamers can sign up for a sneak peek at upcoming free-to-play MMO games.

Two common hurdles for gamers interested in picking up a massively multiplayer online game are cost and an existing user base that sports equipment and stats well beyond the reach of a newbie. Neither of those factors is a consideration for Acclaim's new Dance! Online and 2Moons MMO games.

Like all the company's offerings, both games are fee-free, but the company has announced that both entered their closed beta periods last week, so most users are essentially starting from scratch. While participation in the games is by invite only, invitations are being sent out on a first-come, first-served basis to registrants at the official Dance! Online and 2Moons Web sites.

Neither game has been rated by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, but Acclaim specifically warns that 2Moons was designed for those 17 and older. Acclaim has yet to nail down an official release date for either title.

Terrible game, I was invited to closed beta and didn't like it one bit. It brings us absolutely nothing new, except for maybe blood&gore. But that's way not enough to make a good game. If you want a good MMORPG game, like anime, don't mind a lot of mindless grinding and love to PvP I'd suggest RAN Online. Sure it has the same formula as the most Asian MMORPG's out there, but the battle is a lot of fun, and it encourages partying above all things. AND it's no freakin' fantasy, thanx god.

I only really enjoyed the old NES games from Acclaim. Turok was pretty good and I loved the Simpsons games from back in the day. Acclaim has seriously messed up big time.

@buying the Acclaim name: Why would you want the Acclaim name? Everything associated with the company was/is a steaming pile of crap, from Total Recall and Friday the 13th on NES right up to those stinkers Legends Of Wrestling and Alias on PS2/XBox. He would've been better off starting a new company all together if he was interested in staying in the business. But what is this game, an online DDR ripoff? o_O

I think this is the "new" Acclaim, I forgot who bought the brand name and restarted the company, or something along that line. The "old" one did go bankrupt

yeah i also trought that, looks like somebody bough the name for their own company see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acclaim_Entertainment it looks like this In August 2005, former Activision executive Howard Marks purchased the name "Acclaim" for a reported $100,000. In the beginning of 2006, Marks formed a new company called Acclaim Games.
