This morning, Acclaim Entertainment announced that Click Entertainment, a small San Francisco-based development team, is currently working on Throne of Darkness, an upcoming adventure/RPG for the PC.

In Throne of Darkness, players take on the role of a samurai warlord and command seven of his warriors in a highly team-oriented adventure/RPG environment similar to Blizzard's Diablo. The ultimate goal of the single player game is to defeat the Dark Warlord through a series of increasingly difficult confrontations. Once that task has been completed, the game takes on a whole new feel. "Our goal for Throne of Darkness is to blur the lines between single-player gaming and the multiplayer experience,'' said Doron Gartner, president of Click Entertainment and lead developer of Throne of Darkness. "When players win the game in single-player mode, they become the Dark Warlord and have a whole new multiplayer game.'' Once becoming the Dark Warlord, players will have to defend their throne against others in multiplayer battle.

Click Entertainment was founded by Ben Haas and Doron Gartner in 1997, and is currently staffed by nine programmers, artists, and designers. Prior to starting Click, Haas and Gartner helped develop Blizzard's successful Diablo.

E3 attendees can take an early look at Click's Throne of Darkness at Acclaim's booth. Throne of Darkness is expected to ship in mid-2000.
