Acclaim Clears Up RAM Situation

Acclaim's got three N64 games in line to use the N64 RAM expansion pack. Guess which one is first?

GameSpot News spoke to Acclaim Wednesday morning and confirmed that Quarterback Club '99 is not the first Acclaim game to benefit from the use of the RAM pack. Acclaim told us that Extreme G 2 (first thought to use the pack, then later was said not to), is not confirmed as the first game from Acclaim (or any other company) to use the device.

With the RAM pack, Extreme G 2 will run in medium resolution, above the low resolution seen without using it. Extreme G2 will be released in mid-October.

Quarterback Club '99 will use it as well, to increase the buffer for instant replays, allowing for up to a minute and a half of replay. It may also increase the game's speed somewhat.

As everyone knows by now, Turok 2 will also use the RAM expansion (and is the current killer app for the device). With the Ram upgrade, Turok 2 runs in high resolution or high-resolution letterbox mode. Playing the game in high res is certainly worth the price of the RAM pack and brings the game up to 3Dfx-type graphics quality.
