As if the PSP's already insane launch lineup of sports titles couldn't get any sweeter: Sony has confirmed that three of their 989 Sports-developed titles launching with the Sony handheld--MLB, NBA, and Gretzky NHL--will be online-enabled from the get-go, through either an ad hoc network or via wireless Internet hotspot. Additionally two Sony-produced driving titles--Twisted Metal: Head-On and ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails--will also be online enabled out of the box.

This is more great news for Sony's handheld device, already riding a wave of hype practically unheard of in the handheld market. The announcement also acts as a perfect vehicle for 989 Sports to build some buzz about their sports lineup, the reputation of which has suffered for several years due to poor sales performance and mediocre gameplay practically across the board. We've already seen the console version of Gretzky NHL and it left us feeling underwhelmed. Here's hoping that trend doesn't continue with the PSP launch titles, online or not.

Now that 989 Sports' PSP sports titles are set to launch online, will this affect your decision over which baseball, basketball, or racing games to buy on March 24?
