Can't beat Cruis'n USA? Having trouble with Mario 64? Ready to smash your Turok cartridge with a hammer? Don't resort to needless violence just yet. InterAct Accessories has released its GameShark peripheral for the Nintendo 64, which is now available nationwide at Electronics Boutique, Toys R Us, and Babbage's. In addition, it has relaunched its GameShark peripherals for Saturn and PlayStation with new packaging. All three GameSharks have a suggested retail price of US$49.99

The GameShark plugs into the cartridge slot of the N64, and game cartridges are plugged into the GameShark's top port. When the system power is turned on, players enter a code screen where special passcodes can be entered to achieve desired effects in any Nintendo 64 title - for instance, invincibility in Mario 64, level skips in Turok, or even speed boosts in racing games.

Codes can be obtained through InterAct's GameShark web page, through a 900 line, or they can be found in leading video game magazines in the US.

"We are very proud and excited for the launch of the GameShark for Nintendo 64," Todd Hays, the president of InterAct, said in a statement. "With the launch of the Nintendo 64 GameShark and relaunch of the PlayStation and Saturn versions, we hope to continue the tradition of allowing gamers to break codes, reveal the hidden, never lose, and never die."
