60 percent of all PS Vita purchases made digitally

Sony reveals majority of all PS Vita puchases made through PlayStation Store; platform is "just beginning its life."

by

PlayStation executive Jack Tretton today revealed that 60 percent of all PlayStation Vita software purchases are made digitally through the PlayStation Store.

The revelation came during Sony's E3 2013 briefing this evening, where Tretton described the PS Vita as "just beginning its life."

Tretton also revealed that the average PS Vita owner has purchased more than 10 games.

In addition, Tretton confirmed that God of War HD 1 and 2, as well as Final Fantasy X and X-2, Flower, and Dead Nation are coming to the PS Vita.

Lastly, Tretton spoke about Telltale Games' The Walking Dead, confirming the game will launch on the PS Vita this August. A new episode--400 Days--will launch this summer, while a new PS Vita bundle that includes the first season, 400 Days, and "bonus content" will be made available in August.

Just admit it Sony, you messed up with the PS Vita big time. A great hand held and you give it... little support. Just like the PSP. Well done Sony, well done.

Sony should do a special presentation for the Vita in the future to announce some games because all six of those games are nothing but ports.

Heh, of course the majority of games for this system are download only....when you almost cant's get the physical disc anymore it's highly like most people will be FORCED to download it if they want to play it.

At least in my region I see as good as absolute ZERO physical media for the PSV anymore

And they didn't announce shit for it... no new exclusive games or anything. Just bringing over old games and the whole Walking Dead thing, which is kinda cool, but I can just play that on the PS3.

This is their news regarding the PSV so far?

...

I think anybody who claims that the PSV is dying or whatnot is not very wise. It's about as dumb as claiming it's rainy today so it'll be rainy a month from now. There are so many variables that can change the success of the PSV, and this is a hardware that has a lot of potential.

However, it's not farfetched to assume that unless Sony puts in the effort into the PSV, the system could fail. In an age where we have a lot of other gaming options coming out, both for casuals and hardcore, Sony really needs to make a strong push for the PSV.

A price drop for the system and the memory cards would be a good start. Across the PSP and the PSV library, there are a lot of great games to hold interest for some time. This alone can give tremendous potential for third party support.

I really hope we're not done hearing Sony's plans for the PSV this E3.

Very disappointed with the lack of games for the vita. Wishing I hadn't bought it.

If the Vita had more Physical games to buy the statics would be different, I'm glad the vita is region free, I do import a ton of games.

Don't care I still only buy physical, and still don't believe in a all digital future.

ahhh...so if we starve the Vita owners, they will eventually break down and buy whatever.

@Pete5506 Pretty much.  All this statistic tells me is that there's barely any market penetration for the device.

@Sohereiam

I agree, as much as I do buy a lot of digital, physical with no DRM is the future imho.  Because it's future-proof.  Your game will still work if the servers crash or go offline.  All you have to do is put the disc in your device and voila, it works!

Now THAT is forward-thinking in this era where software and servers become obsolete so fast.

@o016945 Yeah, that's what I was going to say.  The Vita's a friggin' joke, and I say that as someone who pre-ordered it.
