Remember Meridian 59? Because of all the news (both good and bad) about Ultima Online, rQuest, and Asheron's Call, it seems that 3DO's own online role-playing game may have been left by the wayside.

However, 3DO announced a new upgrade on Wednesday, Meridian 59 Liberation, featuring a new combat system, spell improvements, and the use of skills. 3DO also announced that it has changed the game's pricing model's flat rate to only US$14.95 a month.

"Our customers have spoken, and we listened, making the key improvements that they requested," said Nicholas Beliaeff, vice president for product development at 3DO. "It is a good day in the realm of Meridian 59."
