3DO has confirmed reports of layoffs at New World Computing, its subsidiary development studio that created the Might and Magic games, including the recently released turn-based strategy game Heroes of Might and Magic IV and the role-playing game Might and Magic IX. While the publisher did not provide specifics on the extent of the layoffs, it did state that a core team still remains at New World, and the publisher is committed to providing patches for current games. 3DO has not ruled out creating an expansion for Heroes IV or a new Might and Magic game sometime in the future.

We'll post more information on the situation at New World Computing as it becomes available. For more information about the Might and Magic games, take a look at our full reviews of Might and Magic IX.
