$390 Wii U ZombiU bundle out Feb. 17

Nintendo launching new Deluxe hardware bundle in North America this month with Pro controller, download code for Nintendo Land.

Nintendo today announced a new ZombiU Wii U hardware bundle. Due out February 17 in the United States and Canada, the bundle features a 32GB Wii U Deluxe system, a copy of ZombiU, and a black Pro controller for $390.

In addition, the bundle includes a ZombiU artwork booklet and "never-before-seen" developer commentary. On top of this, the pack features a download code for Nintendo Land, instead of a physical disc, which is included with standard Wii U Deluxe bundles.

According to Nintendo, the new Wii U bundle represents a savings of over $70 if all items were purchased separately. For more on ZombiU, check out GameSpot's review.

The Wii U has sold over 3 million units and 11 million software copies since launch. Not all have been pleased with the system's arrival, as Activision yesterday said it was "somewhat disappointed" with the platform's debut last year.

Guess Ninty's in a rush to move their consoles before they get steamrolled by the real next-gen consoles.

Really?  This was the game worth bundling?  No 1st party game??  I guess this was the one that did the best...?

Let's compare Nintendo and Sony consoles for a minute.

- Nintendo 64 (ROM cartridge) and Playstation (CD-ROM)

- Gamecube ("Nintendo Gamecube Disc") and Playstation 2 (DVD and CD)

- Wii ("Wii Optical Disc") and Playstation 3 (Blu-ray Disc)

- Wii U ("25GB Wii U optical Disc") and Playstation 4 (Something good)

It seems like Nintendo is always one step behind with only a few great games released for their console using average hardware. By all means, pay 390 dollars for a sub-par system and game when the real next generation consoles are right around the corner and you will see the trend continue. I really would not be surprised if Nintendo stopped making consoles and became software based like Sega. I like Nintendo games and everything, but they only release a few good ones for their console and the rest are crap. I don't think it warrants the need to purchase an over-priced sub-par system to experience a few good games.

Oh come on Ninty! For 300$ I can get a brand new PS3 WITH 500Gb and PS+ subscription that gives me 18 instant games for FREE for BOTH my PS3 and Vita! Ninty I know you can do better than this sh**ty bundle.

For there to be a bundle so soon gives me the impression that wiiu sales have been unsatsifactory. They wouldn't offer more otherwise.

2 games and the console for that price is a pretty sweet deal, but I have no desire to play Zombie U. If it was bundled with NSMB-U on the other hand, I'd buy this in an instant.

Great looking bundle.  ZombiU hugely underrated.

Yay I was waiting for them to bundle this crappy game for this crappy console at a crappy price.

Too bad I have too much self respect to participate in this farce.
Oh crap.

You could not pay me 390$ to play ZombiU.

So let me get this straight the Wii U is only a marginally more powerful console than the current ps3 and xbox 360, and it only boost a 32 gb harddrive versus several hundred for the other systems, and the next gen sony and xbox are thought to be close to a 400 dollar price range, therefore Nintendo is raising their price to 390 because?

Zombie U Bundle SHAFTS Wii U early adopters

Nintendo: Early Adopters deserve compensation....game codes or something else. Don't lie to us and say you will have games, dont' steal our money and offer better prices the next day. You are losing us as fans.

Deluxe launch bundle $350 - Nintendoland only.

Zombue U Bundle  $390 - Nintendoland, Zombie U, Pro Controllor.  (It's like getting $70 +Tax ) FREE.

 It's too early to start scamming your fans Nintendo.

So they have a great 2D Mario game, and they bundle a poorly rated zombie game instead?

lorider25
lorider25

lol, already a bundle deal huh?  I can't understand why they released this console without a Zelda or a 3D Mario game. It would of sold much better if they thought ahead. Now with the new X-box and PS4 consoles right around the corner, nobody is going to give a what about the Wii U.

Two games and a Pro Controller, not a bad deal at all.

They're releasing a download of Nintendo Land instead of the disc? I thought there was an 8GB update that has to be installed also. That's taking up alot of space right off the bat. It's good that they're including the pro controller. Hopefully they'll let developers utilize it now instead of making every game work with the laptop controller.

@grbolivar Yes and how many movies do you get FREE with a Netflix subscription? Subscription games aren't too bad but nothing great.

@WithoutGraceXII Iwould definitely buy it if a different game was included.  I've heard good things about Zombi U, but its not my kind of game.  The price is great, but I would only buy it something else was thrown in instead.

@kiramasaki

Because apparently they give too much credit to the intelligence of gamers. Let's see, the tech is much newer and operates in a way that makes it more efficient yet easier to develop for (but at a higher price), the GamePad is about 3x more expensive to manufacture than a PS3 controller, this particular bundle also comes with a Pro Controller ($50), ZombiU ($60) as well as a digital code for NintendoLand ($50).

Really people, aside from the tech in the Wii U, is it so hard to read?

VenkmanPHD
VenkmanPHD

@kiramasaki Because dumb people will buy it anyway.

Also, I whole-heartedly agree about the HDD. I have a 250 on my X360 and I am down to 73gb or so. 32 is a joke, and 4 is just flat out insulting to the modern consumer.

@shanemckiness Remember when early 3DS owners felt like they got shafted when the price dropped about half a year after it was launched? Then Nintendo started the 3DS Ambassador program, where said early adopters got 20 free games and special notifications exclusive to them? Yeah, Nintendo is harsh; they owe the world so much!

LeftyxLaura
LeftyxLaura

@shanemckiness This is why I decided to wait on purchasing a Wii U because I knew in about 3 or 4 months they were going to drop the price severely. That's what happened when I bought a 3DS early. Then they reduce the price by $120 within 4 months after the release date, and then later on come out with another 3DS XL. Plus, now that Rayman Legends got pushed back on release, I'm waiting to buy one until the price goes down with more games that I'm interested in to be available for purchase.

devild0ogwhite
devild0ogwhite

@shanemckiness Remember though, early adopters are willing to pay the extra money so they can start enjoying the system right away.  In this case, a dfference of only 70 bucks isn't that much of a big deal (espcecially since the included game is crap anyways).  This happens with every console, so you have to weigh your options carefully before you choose to, or not to, purchase them day one.

Xily
Xily

@shanemckiness Early adopters deserve nothing more than what they payed for. Nintendo didn't steal anyone's money. Wii U owners knew the risks, and chose to get the system early, rather than wait for a price drop/deals.

I was an early adopter for other systems, but I know I'm not entitled to anything extra than what I expected to get, nor do I feel like I should be getting more than what I payed for.

There's nothing wrong with buying a system very early - because of supply and demand - but there is something wrong with some early adopters having this sense of entitlement.

@Dezuria

Poorly rated? It has a higher average score than NintendoLand, sitting at 77% on both Metacritic and GameRankings. For a brand new IP that's trying something very different, that's pretty good.

@lorider25 You're wrong man, just wait until the first major first party title is released.

Sales will skyrocket, that's what I'm holding out for. It's funny how everyone's tried to spell out doom for a Nintendo console, end up being wrong, and write it off as a fluke.

abHS4L88
abHS4L88

@lorider25

Ever thought that those games take a lot of time to develop? You've said it yourself that sales would've been much better and what's one way to keep sales strong? Spread out your system sellers. Just because you think that the next gen Playstation/XBox will all of a sudden make the Wii U irrelevant doesn't mean that will happen. Tell me one time that's EVER happened, the only time consoles were "forgotten" was because they were backed by companies who either didn't know what the hell they were doing or had bad reputations, Nintendo knows exactly what they're doing and still has a great reputation among developers (despite weak 3rd party support).

You only save like $10.00 the deluxe package by default comes with Nintendo Land and a Pro-Controller.

@JoeAdvanced @grbolivar hahaha!! love the banter !! Sony release the "slim" model with good bundles to maximize sales of the dying system ready for the launch of the new console later in the year. Nintendo release a failing system with a horrendously priced bundle (and a crap game title) to maximize sales !!!

Zepthire95

@JoeAdvanced @grbolivar Well they did with the PS2 for many years and they said they will do the same for the PS3. I see no reason why this won't be the case.

@VenkmanPHD @kiramasaki "Because dumb people will buy it anyway" Sorry sir but only 3MM dumbs worldwide... that thing is not selling, there aren't so many dumbs as Ninty expected.

ArabrockermanX

@VenkmanPHD @kiramasaki And like that you two prove you are nothing more than a couple of children... Flash=\=HDD completely different hardware there kiddies. Flash drives are far more expensive for the amount of memory and have some advantages compared to HDD. Advantages include speed, heat, durability.

The only thing insulting here is you two idiots directly comparing the two without realizing it...

@istuffedsunny @shanemckiness

But then again if it wasn't for early adopters there wouldn't be no demand for the system. And then that would simply deter possible publishers from putting games onto it. And well its starting to show right now that there just isn't enough interest for a third party company to produce for it.

@skayj2 @lorider25 Hmmmm funny that every time a first party game was announced sales for the 3ds skyrocketed ¬.¬ nintendo by far have the strongest first party titles, Fact!.

It's 5GB, although Nintendo did state that every Wii U from this year on out is supposed to come with the update already implemented so I don't know if that 5GB will still be used up.
