$270 Final Fantasy 15 Edition Leaves Out Season Pass Included With $85 Version

Ultimate CE buyers will need to pay extra for the season pass.

Despite costing almost $200 more, the priciest version of Final Fantasy XV--dubbed the Ultimate Collector's Edition--in fact leaves out something you get by purchasing an $85 version of the RPG.

As part of an event at Gamescom, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata and art director Tomohiro Hasegawa answered some fan questions (with the answers then relayed on Twitter). Among the subjects discussed was the $270 Ultimate CE, which quickly sold out earlier this year. Following their initial availability, Square Enix offered an additional allotment of 10,000 units, but no more are expected. Tabata and Hasegawa said again today that they've looked into making more but "were told [they] still can't."

The two also revealed that, even after the game's recent delay to November, the Ultimate CE doesn't include the season pass. It's a curious omission, as you'd expect something with a name like the Ultimate Collector's Edition to be comprehensive. Even stranger is the fact that the $85 Digital Premium Edition does include it. (The $90 physical Deluxe Edition, however, does not.)

The Ultimate CE is instead comprised of everything in the Deluxe Edition (like the game, a steelbook case, and in-game content) along with an artbook, Play Arts Kai figure, and more.

The season pass' omission comes as a surprise as its existence was only discovered in August thanks to a a PlayStation Store listing. We still don't know exactly what to expect from the DLC it consists of, but we do know there's an expansion pack that offers a "new way to play" the game.

Following its delay, Final Fantasy XV is now due out on November 29 for PS4 and Xbox One.
