EA Sports has announced that 2002 FIFA World Cup, its latest soccer game, has shipped and will soon arrive in stores. The game features the official FIFA World Cup license, which includes the insignia, trophy, mascots, banners, and flags from the world championship soccer tournament.

"2002 FIFA World Cup offers soccer fans the opportunity to experience all aspects of the world's most celebrated sporting event, including every moment of glory, every sight, and every sound--before the tournament actually begins," said producer Nick Wlodyka. "It promises to be the most authentic FIFA World Cup simulation and will deliver an unparalleled level of fun."

In addition to the tournament license, the game features detailed representations of the star players who will participate in the tournament, new player animations, cinematic replays and other camera options, and an intuitive control scheme that gives players one-button access to headers, volleys, scissor kicks, juggling, and other advanced techniques. It features 32 of the world's best soccer teams, as well as a variety of new stadium environments complete with fans, country-specific chants, and special effects such as lasers, confetti, and streamers.

2002 FIFA World Cup will soon be available in stores for an approximate retail price of $39.99. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage and watch for our full review of the game coming soon.
