1C Company today announced that it has acquired the publishing rights to You Are Empty, which is currently in development at Digital Spray Studios. Scheduled for release toward the end of this year, the game is a first-person shooter set in an alternate-history 1950s Soviet Union.

In the game, leading Soviet scientists have been conducting experiments that alter human physiology and mental abilities in hopes of creating a race of "superhumans" to better build a bright future for communism all over the world. The scientists' creations have other ideas, though, and after escaping from their creators, they go on a rampage through the city in which the game is set. Players, assuming the role of a test subject, are tasked with battling the mutants that now populate the city, in addition to preventing them from spreading beyond its confines.

Further information on You Are Empty is scarce at present, although it's known that, in addition to conventional weapons, players will occasionally gain access to their own "superpowers" as they progress through the game. We'll bring you more information on You Are Empty as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, you might like to check out the game's official Web site.
