1080p Xbox One sports game arrives in April
Kinect Sports Rivals launches April 8, 2014.
Microsoft's Xbox One-exclusive sports game Kinect Sports Rivals will arrive on April 8, 2014, the company announced today. A release in Europe will follow on April 11.
Kinect Sports Rivals runs in 1080p and features new sports like climbing, wake racing, and target shooting, in addition to classics like soccer, tennis, and bowling. It is a follow-up to 2010's Kinect Sports for Xbox 360 and was originally slated to launch this holiday on Xbox One, but was delayed last summer.
The game features a Champions mode, where a stylized version of your character will participate in the game's challenges and will compete against your friends, even if you're not actually there. Kinect Sports Rivals also introduces teams and captains gameplay, which allows you to align with one of three teams (Wolf Clan, Viper Network, and Eagle Legion) and participate in various challenges.
Developer Rare has high hopes for Kinect Sports Rivals, saying the game could have the kind of impact that Wii Sports or Mario Kart had on the original Wii.
