1080 Avalanche hits GameCube

Nintendo ships its snowboarding sequel to stores across North America.

Comments

Nintendo has today announced that 1080 Avalanche for the GameCube has shipped to stores across North America. The game allows up to four players to compete simultaneously and features slopes comprising icy, packed, and powdery areas of snow. Additional features for players to contend with include other boarders, rock slides, and wild animals.

"Natural elements like sunshine, rain, wind, or, in this case, snow--and a raging avalanche--are some of the toughest to re-create in a computer-generated environment," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Not only does 1080 Avalanche succeed, it takes the snowboarding genre to a whole new altitude while maintaining the appeal of the original hit game."
