Armored core 5 the old and the new
Do to the simple fact it is an extremly online oreinted game, and the fact, it is armored core, ive given it a 3.0 for various reasons. the first and most important being that the servers are divided by country. theres american servers, japan servers, etc. returning fans will understand what i mean, for the new, what that means is a very seriouse lack of compition, at least on american servers, making matches against opposing teams scarce at best.
the second reason is because its focus seems completly online, offering little to nothing offline that i concidered challenging, something that stray's greatly from previous titles, that at least offered some kind of actual challenge at some point ether through the story or arena's.
now for the reason i call it "very easy"
the first being the controls. they were not difficult at all for a returning player to to understand. even worse was how much simpler they were from previouse titles, particularly ac 4 answer.
the second reason i call it very easy, and so terribly dissapointing, was that they completly did away the ability to boost vertically, and having to jump up walls to gain any kind of height advantage, severly limited the game play, making opponets movement infinitly more predicable, taking alot of, if not most of the challenge out of the game, even in the online player vs. player aspect, as it limited players to standerd straffing manuvers to dodge and weave through enemy fire. in short, the range of movement players are capable of in this new style is extremly limited in comparison to previous titles. almost totaly taking away any aspect of any single players skill making a defining diference in the out come of battles, straying ever so much further from its roots. the last reason worth mentioning, is the damage system towards what weapons were effective. to do any kind of noticable damage, players selected weapons must have a numerical rating higher than the opponents defense rating for that type. to further salt the wound, when this was successfully done it broke the enemy's armor causing way to much damage, making the overall game play feel all to similar to pokemon, as then the damage is considered to be "super effective", and effectivly making 95% of each type of weapon in the game nearly usless except the most over powered of there types.
now for the reason i say this game is a total let down.
though i enjoy the team based concept of the game overall i do not feel the game play needed to be watered down from armored core for answer, especialy not to such an extreme dagree. returning fans will be disapointed at the games overall simplicty. lack of movement abilities, and flawed at best damage system. this game is not likely to give returning players the adrenaline rush you've come to love so much from any of the previous games going as far back as the 1st armored core on the playstation. and compared to armored core 4 answer, well its not even comparible. its a different game all together now. its not armored core. and if that genuinly upsets you, watch a trailer for next title. this is armored core now. in my own opinion this is extremly upsetting, as i dont beleive we are likely to get another 4 answer ever again. they should have made it a spin off series to armored core. not make it armored core itself.
to the die hard fans of the original and 4 answer in particular we had a better run than most ever got if nothing else. and its sad to see our game finally, and actually get butchered.
