ArchAge (it sure is)

So, I've been trying out this MMORPG - as I usually do with new stuff. This time I made the choice of not buying any founder package; I simply just waited for the official open Beta starting 16th September 2014. I won't even keep things longer than they should be, so here it goes:

Graphics (6/10): Was signaled as a game using Cryengine, so I was looking forward to it very much. Well, I cranked up everything to max and it is still not all that great. I mean, it manages to look decent, but that's it. Is not prettier than any other recent MMORPG; probably even a bit below some others. ESO, WildStar tends to look better. I even like the graphics of Rift more - but this may be just personal taste. All I am saying is they could definitely have done something better than this. (Crysis itself came out Q4 2007, and does look better)

Sounds and Music (6/10): Your average high-fantasy stuff. Nothing more - nothing less. Kind of boring.

Story (4/10): The story... well. I failed to find anything interesting in it. Seems uninteresting - fails to draw me into the game. Sometimes I do no even understand the cutscenes (that are more or less standing pictures narrated by one guy). Does not appear to be original or interesting. Would be a huge failure as a single-player game (SWTOR manages to keep the story interesting all the way in contrast - so there are people who know what they are doing).

Summary: Not what I was expecting to be honest - BUT, I've not played more than 20 hours. I strongly believe I will not either. Please also note that this is entirely my opinion - please do not start flaming about it. I was just disappointed. I understand this is F2P and that comes with a price, but I do not care about that. Gameplay and game quality should not be infuenced by that - what I mean is: will we create a different rating system for F2P and non-F2P games? In the end they are both just games - I'd rather pay for a game if they say it will be better, or they should not publish a game if they think it will not be up to standards, jut because it is free.

(And here I did not even touch the Queuing stuff, that is an illnes plaguing most F2P MMORPGs).

Thanks for reading. Cheers :)
