Arcana Heart is one of the best 2D fighting games of the year. The graphics looks great and the fighting system works. This game consist of 11 female characters who can possess the powers of spiritual beings known as Arcana. The Arcana come from another dimension and use unusual abilities that can alter the playing field. Each of the eleven characters can use one of the eleven Arcana accessible in the game making a possible 121 different fighter combinations. The eleven girls that are available in this game have their own strengths and weaknesses making all of them unique in their own way. This game has two different versions, the original version and the revamped version called Arcana Heart FULL! This version makes the characters more balanced and added new color schemes for the characters. The most appealing part of this game is the story mode. Story mode allows you to play through the arcade version but adds twist and turns which you must decide. The ending the get depends on choices you make. The arcade mode is also good because it allows replay value. Your opponents don't always use their default Arcana in arcade mode. Versus mode is for parties because it allows two players to battle it out without the waiting like in the arcades. Unlocking the gallery mode means you get to see some fan service with the eleven girls. This game overall is something new in terms of game play. Selecting from eleven different girl brawlers and eleven different Arcana adds new game play mechanics that had not been used before in my opinion. If you still have a Playstation 2 system and thirty bucks. This game is a must buy.
