Great idea, maybe on paper but fell through in programming.
After you've made your first car you set off in a series of races to earn more points/funds for a better class. Racing isn't all that exciting because the cars don't handle all too well, it's not terrible, it's controllable but it's still a bit off. The AI cars are a bit pushy and it seems as if they can't see at all, they will run into you and push you off the track but carry on as if nothing happened. Crashing isn't interesting, infact it's a frustrating affair as you kind of get locked onto the other car and only you seem to lose speed.
Running off the track is nearly a death sentence as the grass acts more like a giant rubber mat under your tires and brings you to a quick stop. The tracks become repetitive and it makes progressing through the game a chore.
This game isn't a real simulation but has elements mixed into an arcade style I would like to see real time stats on selling cars rather than based on your racing. The ideas laid out by Apex sound great on paper but really failed to come alive as much as I'd like to have seen. The controls are more arcade with a hint of simulation which keeps you going, along with the ability to unlock more cars to produce. This game can't stand up against PGR or Forza but it has it's own niche and shouldn't be ignored totally. It's flaws shine brightly but as long as you don't expect too much from Apex, it will deliver a good while of racing.
