Dave Jones details the rich customization systems of APB.
Holy poopy... you need 20 gb of space and 2-4 gigs ram... high requirmenst
@ Ryozo microsoft does have a keyboard but it attaches to the controller not a USB
Every single feature has been explained in great detail. Now let's hope they are productive with panning things out after beta, pre-launch. If you have not been watching the APB Podcast, go check it out on YouTube. I am personally very excited about this game, mainly because of the freedom of design, and organized crime sim, style.
Praying for a PC exclusive. Bring back PC Exclusives. Push the wire on our under worked PC's ! All these advances in video cards and ram ect and we are held back by the console generations.... Tired of sh*tbox ports ! As for monthly fee's.. it's a given and won't change. You buy and support thousands of dollars and even more in bandwidth costs and see how you survive off box price alone... People whine so much about monthly fees yet even still its only 2 hrs of your time even ata minimim wage job... quit smoking or drinking pop.. skip that one night at the rip off cinema.. or even better yet QUIT SPENDING 65$ ON CONSOLE GAMES !
MooncalfReviews is correct to note that much of that customization would be difficult at best if one had to rely solely on a console controller (again, assuming that console versions do see the light of day). A simple resolution would be for Micsosoft to allow the 360 to make use of standard USB keyboards and mice/trackballs for applications such as this (as I think Sony already does with the PS3). Another possibility, given that many gamers also have computers, would be for the APB website to include an area where players can log in and access online versions of the customization studios, with changes being saved to their console's HD the next time they log into the game. I note again that the ability to import one's own graphical and audio assets would be a nice plus... imagine a crew rolling through town modeled after the Brotherhood of Nod.
Can't wait for this game, looks absolutely amazing. Gamespot should take down the Xbox 360 section of this game though, RTW has said on several occasions that for first release they are only going PC only, and haven't made any real commitments to make a console version. They said it's a possibility but in the mean time it's kinda getting some people's hopes up for no good reason. :|
I`m just seeing my PC burning trying to run this game.... Hope the sistem requirement aren`t so high... Just hope..
Isn't this supposed to be released on xbox360 as well?
@edgiz99 Yeah, true. You'd need a mouse to do a lot of this stuff, especially when it comes to adding custom textures. Unless they made a paint program for xbox which comes packaged with the game. What they will probably do is make a less complicated version for the 360, if they decide it's economical.
on the gamespot page for this game it says this is also on xbox 360 but i really highly doubt the xbox can handle this sort of customization but i guess we'll see when and if they announce this for consoles
Does he say it is going to be released in the "2nd quarter of this year"? Because everywhere I look on the internet, the release date is set in Q3 2010. If this is true, I'm so glad it will be released earlier!! :))
I hope they don't throw out the single player mode, because the game is already awesome enough playing by yourself.
Some excellent customization technology on display in this game. I hope other MMO developers are taking notes.
davy jones is the man!!!
why they dont put pre order so i buy it and get beta these days >
wait... is it ingame money (yay) or real money (booooooooo!!!!!) ohopefull ingame, but prolly not
I NEED THIS GAME!
I heard this was originally coming to both the Xbox 360 and PC, but they decided to release for the PC first, and then consider an Xbox 360 version. But we will see.
The customasation sounds realy interesting.
I really like the detail they went in to for the customisation. I enjoy it when games which allow me to create a really interesting character. :3 Clothing feature certainly has my interest, aha.
This feels like it will be a preclude to what gaming will be, but I don't see it doing much else besides pushing new ground. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes another Shenmue of gaming.
hmmm, its looking interesting, but i think after a while the monthly fee thing gets old. If thats the route they are planning i probably wont go after it, and i am too cheap to upgrade my clunking pc to meet any new game specs. Seems every time i do so the dang thing is obsolete the day after.
I too hope this comes out on Xbox 360, if not I will be fairly dissapointed considereing my graphics card on my PC is not that great and this game would be really awesome on 360. I'll pray it comes out for 360. [:
@Json7 That doesn't there won't be a monthly fee. They could very well do a bi-monthly fee for twice the price or even a 6 month fee for like $35. It would be nice if all you had to do is buy the game but I don't see that happening.
I know it's completely different, but I'm getting vibes of Playstation Home from this. However, APB "looks like" Home, but 100x better. Want to check this game out. It'll be awesome if we can start like massive riots or carnage.
No, there is no monthly fees. Please read up on the game. From multiple interviews and their FAQ: "How much will APB cost? The price and payment model have not been finalized yet but we can say it won?t be the traditional monthly subscription model."
@Aslyum_Beast : free? This game is an MMO, most likely there is a monthly fee.
I like where they're going with the degree of customizability here. And yes, Aslyum_Beast, being able to import your own assets would be nice (Homeworld 2 and Dawn of War allowed players to create their own logos). As it is, I'm wondering how easy it would be to recreate, for instance, Cobra's old-school 'blues'...
ive heard from a few little birdies i know that this will be F2P. my attention is well and truely bought.
Looking forward to seeing this come out on pc so then after wards we all can enjoy it on the consoles.
It looks good, my only gripe is I know the PC version will be way better than the console version. If its exactly the same I'd be amazed but either way I'm getting the game. It looks very interesting to me
This game is definitely on my watch list, especially if it's free-to-play. I kinda want to be in the cop faction.
I hope they will actually release the xbox 360 version! Cuz I don't know if my pc can max it out :(
I hope the game play is as good as the customization. (why couldn't they have made a matrix game like this)
...Horrible running/walking animations...
Wow. if its true that this game is free, than its going to be hard not to pick up this game. Ive played alot of games that boasted about customization, some of the best being Oblivion, Aion, Saints Row 2 and Forza 3. While Forza 3 still seems unrivaled with its great tools, this is indeed a lot better than Saints Row 2 and Aion just because its in depth AND in a persistent world. Customization of Weapons is an amazing thing. the only thing that would make this better than Forza 3's customization is if you can import Pictures onto surfaces of things like T-thirts, Pants, and Cars. Too bad that would have to be monitored.
Hell yeah! and i dont think they mentioned weapon costumization before.
Nice!
This wil be great
"Theres a scar, you can then age the scar..." Wow. This is almost exactly what I want in a game!
Every time I see this game, it looks better every time. APB's level of customization is unrivaled.
Can't wait :D This game looks amazing with customization~!
looks so cool! I will try this for sure.
