So-called horror games have often been criticized for not being scary enough. Sure some of them might make you jump when you're not expecting it and make you spill your Mountain Dew all over your favorite bean bag chair, but most don't leave you with a real sense of dread or fear long after you've finished it. An Italian developer may have found an interesting and scary solution.

The new first person horror title Anna from the studio Dreampainters features a ghostly enemy that stalks you throughout the entire experience. It can remember every move you make and then uses those moves against you to scare you.

The adventure game takes you through an idyllic Italian countryside and then plunges you into darkness as the ghost engine running the game attempts to thwart your effort to solve its various puzzles by frightening you based on your previous behaviors.

The game features three different paths at approximately three hours of gameplay each. So that's nine total hours of gameplay, not counting the time you have to stop and put on a clean pair of underpants.

Dreampainters offered a short trailer of the terror players can expect when they play it. It's currently available on PC and Dreampainters are mulling the prospects of releasing a Mac version.
