Why do the graphics still look like N64 worthy?

I don't mean the actual designs, but the textures and the water, and the trees...and the furniture...and everything, it looks the same.
I really hope this isn't another City Folk with a few extras. Nintendo can't be lazy.

This is Animal Crossing, not super-realistic-graphics-other-game. The graphics, if I do say so myself, are substantially better than City Folk and Wild World. I think they're cute, anyways.

The graphics are amazingly better! They're gorgeous! They're perfect for AC. If you've ever seen any of the other AC games you would see the progression in the graphics. Also you would see the style of AC. It's very kid like, imaginary, and cute. That's the whole artistic representation of the game.

And we still have however long until it's released. We have yet to see the 3D which will make this SO much prettier to look at. Like every other 3DS title ever.

Well, for one, Animal Crossing was pretty much THE best looking N64 game with 3D models.
Second, if you seriously think this looks like a N64 game, you're crazy.

K dude, graphically the only difference between this and the GCN one is a few texture overhauls. Other than that they're literally the same and you can even tell when looking at objects that are thin lined. The original GCN game was only 15mb, and there's a reason.
Guys, don't think I'm hating on the game for the hell of it, I'm just saying...You'd think at this point Nintendo would have tried for a big upgrade. This one is sharper, yes, but really not by much.

So... out of curiosity what would you have liked to see graphic wise? Maybe we're all missing what you're trying to get at. It's obvious you're not hating on the game, you're just stating an opinion. So, in your opinion what would could Nintendo have changed to make it graphically more appealing and less like a game made for N64?

If you think that AC3DS's art style looks like N64 graphics then you don't play enough video games to be making these assumptions and hiding behind your "opinion".
It's like saying Avatar and Inception are the best movies ever when you've only watched a handful of movies outside of kid's cartoon premieres and Cartoon Network.
Seriously, this looks like one of the prettiest games on the 3DS yet. The water looks calming and refreshing, trees have more polygons and detail when compared to City Folk, character models look 1000x better than the original's, grass has more detail, houses, clothing, etc. etc.

Okami and Animal Crossing have completely different styles, and Okami's wasn't any crisper than the 3DS AC... and I would know Okami's my favorite game.
