Animal Crossing City Folk is everything I expected it to be. Not quite sure if that's a good or bad thing as of yet. Having played the game for Gamecube, I knew what i was getting into and how to play the game. For those who are thinking of picking this up as their first Animal Crossing, i say go for it.

The game keeps its cute and cuddly atmosphere throughout your entire play-through. As all the characters are animals(dogs, pigs, bears) its fun to run around and see all your neighbors. Its a great game especially for kids. You control an Avatar that just moved into a new city. But o no! You don't have any money to pay for a house or anything at all. After getting a part time job thanks to a friendly raccoon, your objective is to save up money to buy your house. There are many many ways of doing this, selling fossils, fish or bugs. But the biggest money maker is by selling furniture and big market paintings.

The largest portion of the game is to customize your house. Buying furniture is how you do this. There are hundreds upon hundreds of things you can decorate you house with, and there's more then one way to do it. Buying stuff from your local market is an easy way, but if you don't feel like spending the cash you can do random chores for your neighbors. Often they will reward you with cash, furniture, wallpaper or another surprising object. As you get more and more furniture you'll find you need more room to store all your stuff. But fear not, your friendly boss will offer to expand your house for you, after that your goal is to yet again gain enough money to pay him back, and then guss what....he expands your house again. This happens about 4 or 5 times and each time you have to earn more and more money.

While the game can get repetitive pretty fast i think its more because i was already used to the first one. For someone who picks this up for the first time i think it can offer hours of fun, Its one player but you can go online to visit other peoples towns. Though i never made use of it. All in all Animal Crossing City Folk isn't a bad game, not at all....though there are better games out there.
