The hate this game gets by the gaming community is truly unbelievable. Rovio made a game which is GREAT for what it is. That being a simple but finely crafted casual title created specifically for mobile platforms. All the posters getting bent out of shape need to get over it. The game is great and deserves the success its had.

Everyone needs to stop getting so upset about video games and start getting upset about real life stuff, like the fact that your acne just won't go away, or your only friends are online, or even how you're 30 and living in your parents basement.

I don't know if Gamespot thought they were going to draw in a new audience with this or what, but wasting time and resources reviewing stuff with the sorts of basic game mechanics gamers got bored of in the early 90s does not get a thumbs up from me.

Why do all of the most average, most docile, most boring people I know play this game?

Because it has 700,000,000 downloads in the Franchise Ziyad888. It is just not a hardcore game. In fact you have asked a rather silly question.

IT'S A ONE DOLLAR GAME!! WHY THE HELL DO WE NEED A REVIEW FOR IT?!!

@grasu Hitler made a lot of improvements on Germany too. Does that mean he's a good person? This game is a joke and a gaming industry threat because soon enough we're left with only this brainless kind of game. And profit more than Nintendo and Sony? Things fanboys says...

Looks pretty good, but it doesn't look all too different from the online flash games Gravitee and Gravitee 2.

@grasu I know! That's why I hate it. It can barely be called a video game, but it's so profitable.

@rarson As it said in the beginning of the review, Angry birds has become integrated into our popular culture. Maybe they shouldn't have done a video review of this game, but its release is a major event in smartphone gaming.

Dear GameSpot, Stop giving attention to unoriginal iOS "games". If you're gonna 9 a game, it should be Crush the? Castle.

Wow, an Angry Birds review prominently displayed on the main page. Gamespot inches closer to irrelevance...

@grasu There are plenty of things that make lots of money, that doesn't make it good for the industry. Things like Angry Birds and Call of Duty have killed Innovation this generation. Either developers make clones of these types of games or they don't make money. Then we see repeats of these games year after year just to make money. We hardly see any games made these days because they wanted to make a game that people will love and because it is their passion. We only see games that make money and that has really impacted serious gamers.

@Goyoshi12 Not in that aspect. Time wasting games are games you play because you want to waste time. Rael involving games are games that waste times because you want to play.

@FlamingFury Easy mistake to make. I can see where you were coming from with the written reviews being present, i was just annoyed that us PC folk never get video reviews unless the games are on consoles too.

@Big_Pecks This "crap" you nitwit has made more in profits than all of NIntendo (and possibly) Sony!

Whenever we download anything on our phones, we essentially vote for the companies. The more we buy, the higher they stand. With so many Angry Birds downloads, it would be surprising if they would have NOT reviewed it... Think about it... Any major video game, from Mass Effect, to Gears of War, to Total War Series, to the late Command and Conquer, to Crysis, COD, and Battlefield, these are the games that are especially being reviewed because there is a large consumer and fan base. Due to high demand for these games, they are reviewed. Yes, Angry Birds is nowhere near as complex, but it has warranted a large following, and we do live in a capitalistic world - live with it.

I like Angry Birds on my Android. But, I think Agry Birds Space is gonna be better. It's more puzzle-ish play style just looks more appealing to me.

@ShadowriverUB Dues Ex : IW was a completely different game From the original Dues Ex . it had Different game engine . this one's like "Alan Wake : American Nightmare" , and believe me if it was the second official Angry Birds , it would have been hyped much more than this

Casual games will actually help introduce those without console/pc games to a world they may enjoy. We all know people who never game at home, yet play on their phone/tablet. This opens the door imo. Hence eventually bringing more gamers to 'real' gaming, which is better for all of us.

@Megakick - Just because mobile gaming is profitable does not mean publishers will suddenly abandon other platforms. There is no evidence to support this. If anything, platforms and PC games are taking in more total revenue than ever, and Indie developers are more successful than they've been since the Shareware era thanks to low-cost distribution models like Steam and XBox Live. Think of it this way: Large-production games like Skyrim and Diablo 3 are like blockbuster action movies, and Angry Birds is like a romantic comedy. Just because people are watching romantic comedies doesn't mean the action movies aren't getting made, and vice versa. Neither does one becoming more popular or viable as a profit-generator mean that the other is going away; both can coexist. Yes, Angry Birds is a ridiculous success for a reskinned version of Tank Wars, but it is not going to cause Blizzard, for example, to stop making Starcraft in favor of making iPhone apps. Further, there is no evidence that games are getting worse. I've had just as much fun playing Limbo, Capsized, Braid, Team Fortress 2, Bioshock, and Portal as I did as a kid playing Ikari Warriors and Final Fantasy. So please, stop with the "casual games are ruining everything" attitude. We should be encouraging new games regardless of platform. For all we know a casual title might inspire some developer to go on and develop the next Ocarina of Time.

@milannoir Well, GameSpot can't really review every single game out there in the world, if you really want them to then just ask them how come they didn't review those games and get an answer and accept it or move on. Also, comparing Angry Birds to those games!? Where the hell did GameSpot do THAT!?

MikeFeeney431

@FlamingFury i was referring to video reviews, you self righteous ignoramus.

Look at the scores of the games, Not good when a simple game like Angry Birds 2 gets a 8.0. Publishers See this and think why bother spending millions in production cost when a they can just make a Angry Birds snd make millions. Stuff like this is why games are going down hill look at the quality of the games with high production costs.

@Junior_AIN if theres a genre that needs to die its JRPGS. weird title names (tales of graces f, what the hell??), same damn boring formula. then theres this disgaea 3 crap coming for the ps3. its 2d and its on the ps3!! what the hell are they lazy??

I love Angry Birds, I don't see why people are so antagonistic towards mobile games. It's a great way to just waste some time when you don't have the time to delve yourself in something more complex.

@Goyoshi x3 Terran Conflict for isntance. Comparing that game with Angry Birds would be an insult, yet GS never bothered to review it. Check this out too : http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/27318642 And yes, I'm aware video games are never productive. Yet comparing Angry Birds to some of the games listed in the link above, is like comparing my 2-year-old nephew's scribblings with Monet's paintings.

Amazing that this game gets a review, while some awesome, complex games never got one. To me Angry Birds belongs to the Mine Sweeper category. No need to review it, just a time killer.

To be honest, Angry birds is an incredibly well made game that really innovates on itself. Hate all you want, it's pretty damn good

Goyoshi12

@Arsyad00 Then why click on a review of a game series you hate? Wouldn't the logical thing to do be to NOT go to anything related to a game that you hate?
