Good music and tight gameplay make Amplitude a great rhythm game.

Amplitude is the spiritual successor to the previous rhythm game, also developed by Harmonix, Frequency. In Amplitude you possess an intrument called a "Beat Blaster" that is used to strike round objects (notes) and thus releases the sonic energy inside resulting in an instrumental noise being played. Despite this sounding like it was made up by an old man on crack, the gameplay actually holds up very well. Gameplay takes place in a colorful, almost hypnotic area where the Beat Blaster is placed over a track which corresponds to the instrument in the actual song. On each track you must press the button which relates to one of the three possible location for the note in time with when it passes under the target of the Beat Blaster. Amplitude contains many tracks and four difficulties, allowing for high replayability, and you can also remix each of the tracks that you have unlocked. The game can actually get insanely hard on the aptly-named "Insane Mode", but on the lower difficulty, it should be fairly easy to newcomers of the genre. If you ever see Amplitude on store shelves you should definitely pick it up for three reasons; It's an awesome game, it's fairly cheap, and it's getting relatively hard to find, but mainly because it's an awesome game.
