While its difficult to review old music games due to the new music games who have revolutionized gaming with their innovative controls, such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band. When playing these older music games you can still enjoy yourself plenty.

Personally I think that Amplitude is better than Frequency because its faster and has better songs. Although if you like Amplitude and havnt played Frequency, dont let that deter you from playing Frequency it really is a great title just the same as Amplitude.

They tend to be difficult to find but when you do, usually they are really cheap so check your local EBGames/Gamestop 9.99 and under dump-bins!

The music in Amplitude was pretty recent to when the game was released in comparison to the pretty out-of-date songs in Frequency even for its time. Personally I prefer the harder rock and metal genres of music so having some additional genres other than the dominant techno like in Frequency is great.

The beat bar in front of the screen has tranformed from a line in Frequency to a hover craft like machine that "shoots" the notes and creating the notes in the song. But the rotational circle that holds each different instrument notes is the exact same as in Frequency, but minus the bonus Freestyle and Scratch notes.

The only bad things about Amplitude are that its a bit on the short side, and seems short lived, as well as in Frequency and also Dance Dance Revolution, the flashy backgrounds are highly distracting and keep you from playing for long periods of time.

Summary:
Very fun to play, with more genres other than techno and lots of unlockable characters, takes little time to beat and is rare to find but is usually a cheap but worthwhile music game.

Sound: 9.5 Some great songs, its nice to recreate the songs part by part.

Storyline: N/A There is no storyline

Visuals: 7 The backgrounds are distracting but driving a hover craft instead of a straight line is great.

Replayability: 7.5 It is replayable on a harder difficulty, but youll play the same songs.

Overall: 8.5 A great overall music game and is worth the generally low price tag.
