Amplitude, the sequel to Frequency, is the best rhythm game thus far produced in my opinion. The basis of the game is to play the notes of the song on time as they fly past you by means of the controller. There are three different notes to play which are left, middle, and right. These notes are played by using L1, R1, and R2 respectively. However, it takes quite a while to be able to do this as simple as it may sound. There are four different levels of difficulty so there is a way to ease into the game. Amplitude, as being a sequel, definitely had to work out some bugs. The changes made by Harmonix Music between their two attempts are amazing. The controls, for the most part, remained the same but the biggest change made was in the actual screen layout and timing. The screen layout was the first change that I noticed when moving on to Amplitude. Instead of going around in a circle, which could make the player dizzy, the player moves left to right on the screen and that is a definite better layout. The next big change I noticed was the timing. This was the biggest annoyance in Harmonix first attempt since the timing of when to hit the button and when the note was played were a little different. Playing multiplayer with friends is also an option. It is a riot while playing against three other people. Chaos and laughter is the only two words I can say to fully explain multiplayer on Amplitude. This game is great for music lovers but still fun for just about anyone willing to try something new. It is a game that is great for all ages since there is such an adjustment between the different levels of difficulty. I fully recommend this game to all. I have been playing it ever since it cme out in the first quarter of 2003. The replay value is amazing. I could never get sick of this game. Thank you for your time, I hope that if you try this game out that you can fully appreciate it as much as I have for the past couple years.
