The most realistic FPS game i ever played

User Rating: 7 | America's Army: Special Forces PC

NOTE: Old review of a classic!

Oh my god... the legendary Americas Army! I quit this game 2006 and boy do i miss it! It was by far the most realistic game i have ever played. Back in the day i tried everything on PC, Unreal, Half Life 2, but i like nothing! Well HL2 DM was a bit fun, but no chance vs AA:SF! This was the game!

The guys that made this game were making a recruitment tool, not a videogame to sell. This is 100% free for anyone, even if you were not American. One might think how could the US Army make a good game? I did too... but when i played this game... oh my god.

This game was so realistic bullets could ricochet off walls or even the ground! And yes if they hit someone it would hurt them! On a modern game like KZ:SF i see bullets could do this as well, but they do no damage so it's like if it doesn't exist. Even the noobtube was balanced like real life. You can't shoot a grenade launcher (noobtube) at close range or it would be a dud, while long range you could get a kill but not that easily. KZ:SF take note. Health system was great, you didn't die instantly with body shots (take note noob of duty), if you shoot an enemy on the leg they would walk crocked, while only the head meant instant kill. All this mixed with great gunplay, yes it was hip fire! ADS is only for long range retard gamers of today! COD players think you run into a room with head tilt to the side looking down the iron sight! LOL. Guns were so realistic they could even jam on you like real life and you gotta take the stuck bullet out the chamber. All the guns were based on the real life thing, they had real life sound as well. Yeah the dev's had a real life arsenal!

It was one hell of a game. I really don't want to say anything bad about it since its hard to think of anything. I guess it didn't have a clan system like Killzone games, but back then i wouldn't even know what the hell is that. When it came to features i guess it was really weak. Of course there was no single player, except that training thing. Also i remember footsteps were too loud, i actually used this to my advantage. Back then i had 5.1 headphones for my PC. Footsteps should not be so loud. And being a PC game a big problem were hackers. Punkbuster could only do so much! Not fun playing against flying soldiers or ultra aimbots that kill entire teams in 1 second.

Why can't there be games this good anymore? For me only 2009's Killzone 2 was better than AA:SF. Not in a realistic way, no way, but in a fun way i say KZ2 was probably the best online FPS game ever. 2 great online shooters last decade... while this one just the above average KZ:SF. Gaming is going downhill... but i will never forget the games i used to love. That 4 KDR i had on this game...

7.0 as an online only rating.
