American Conquest: Divided Nation = VERY Disappointing
The entire American Conquest game series never fully weeded out some of the more buggy aspects of game play. One might assume that after 4+ years of development, the CDV team might have developed a stable gaming engine that supports the elements they claim their games contain. Sadly, AC: DN falls short of the mark.
The pathfinding is better, but still presents tactical problems. Further, the AI still insists on sending out incoherent swarms of soldiers to attack your picket lines, instead of the advertised 19th c. style 'linear' tactic we'd come to expect.
AC:DN claims to be historically accurate, and feature true 19th century Napoleonic style warfare, yet gamers should be aware: it does NOT exist here. In spite of the many unresolved bugs, the game still offers some degree of gameplay. Those players who are familiar with the AC series will be at home here, but many may be disappointed by the lack of polish one might expect from years of fine-tuning.
