When you buy a game titled "Gettysburg," you expect to get a game about a famous civil war battle. Well, you could call Gettysburg the theme of this game, but it is a stretch to say that this game resembles the history of the battle itself. This is actually a puzzle game wrapped in an historical wrapper. Each scenario, which must be beaten before the next is accessible (except for the first few), takes place in a different part of the battlefield, using allegedly historical troops. The problem is that all of troops of the same type are the same strength. Couple that with a limited playing field, and it all boils down to a game of simplified chess on a map of the area surrounding the small town of Gettysburg. This game is interesting for a while, but anyone looking for a game about the battle of Gettysburg should look elsewhere.
