Takes a while to get into the game, but after a couple of missions, it's definitely worth a playthough or two !

User Rating: 7 | Alpha Protocol X360
Alpha Protocol is Sega's version of Deus ex meets Metal gear solid, with Bioware's dialogue choices that affect your 'story' and how certain npc's react to you. It's surprisingly good for an action rpg around the spy theme, however, the occasional bug denies the player's enjoyment (hopefully, they are few and far between, except it did occur to me once in Moscow, and once again in the final mission); these bugs sure do hamper gameplay, and you must restart the entire mission if this ever happens to you. Disheartening I know, but if you turn of the console and come back a few hours later after a break, you should be fine replaying the mission.

As the protagonist Michael Thornton, you can customize his 'origins', akin to Mass effects 'soldier, earth born, space born', and with those choices, dialogue options are available to your (or not).

The stealth element in this game is hilarious but fun, you can either kill/knock out enemies, with the former much faster, and the latter far slower animation wise.

Combat is simple, with abilities that help boost accuracy or weapon combat efficiency. I went a melee route, and it was ridiculously fun in combat.

Alpha protocol is definitely worth a playthrough or two. I highly recommend you play the game on recruit first which leaves you with limited choices, but unlocks the veteran option in your next game which provides some interesting dialogue choices, and has the most starting AP which you can allocate to Thornton's skills.

Achievement wise, there are some kill x amount with weapon Y, a couple where you have to play the game with a certain background, and some that require specific planning; such as 'get all enemies as allies achievements'.

In conclusion, I'd give this game a higher score, maybe a 8 which is quite generous, however, with the uncertainty that game breaking bugs may hinder the player's progress (again, can easily be circumvented by restarting), a 7 is good enough.
