AAARRRRrrgggh! holy sheet this game is annoying. i bought it because it was 10 bucks and i figured 'hey, why not buy a crap game and use a walkthrough for the whole thing just so i can get microsoft xp points! yeah, great idea!! NO!! even with a walkthrough to save you a lot of hassle this game still drives me nuts. Seriously, i enjoyed the first half or so of the game, then it gets to the bit that involves burning roots etc and it just gets tedious after that. The boss fights are boring, you've no idea if you're actually having any effect on a boss until all of a sudden either you or it is dead, seriously, even if the boss winced now and again it would give us a clue. The driving sequences took about 10 years off my life because of the lack of checkpoints and sheer annoying driving mechanics which made it harder. Look, i usually play all games on hard setting because it gives you more value for money and you get more play time. If a game is put together right then playing on hard is fun because you apreciate the game and it makes you want to try harder. Alone in the Dark does not understand this idea, instead it makes things hard for you because there isnt any cleverness about what it is trying to get you to do. So instead of using imagination they instead make things near impossible just to make you feel like you're doing something 'clever' by accomplishing it. This is the reason there is no difficulty setting in Alone in the Dark, because it does not have the imagination or thoughtfulness to be difficult, instead it is just badly finished and polished so it becomes hard due to buggy and glitchy gameplay which is not fun. Seriously, its as if the developers had an 'in crowd' that they created this game for, people who enjoy repetative annoying gameplay because its just that and nothing else. Alone in the Dark? do yoursef a favour and leave us alone.
