Great multiplayer FPS that is updated/patched regularly.

When I first heard about this game, it looked like just another CoD4 knockoff. I had completely ignored it for the first few months after I had seen it. Then one day I was extremely bored and decided to give it a shot. I was surprised by the results.

The gameplay is fast paced and intense. The graphics are great for a F2P game. The sound could use a little work but doesn't detract from gameplay at all. And the game modes are just plain fun.

Let's start things out with gameplay. This game uses the Unreal 3 engine (a tried and true FPS engine) with very balanced weapons for its age. If you practice enough, you should be able to succeed using any class as long as you use it properly. This is unlike most FPS games (even ones you have to pay for) who generally have a certain class/weapon holding a significant advantage over any other. The recoil/spread of weapons are also very respectable. They were able to give it a good amount of spread (unlike CoD) without having it to the point where it may scare players away (counterstrike). And finally there is the idea of teamwork. Generally speaking, one player can't go Rambo on the other team and expect to win. More often than not, the players with large amounts of kills also have large amounts of deaths (unless all they do is camp all match). It really makes you have to think and strategize and rely on your team a lot.

Now there's graphics. This game is F2P meaning that they are not receiving as much money as P2P games or purchased games. Normally this results in poor graphics quality and shoddy gameplay. Such is not the case with AVA. Graphics are great with rather detailed textures on all of their models.

There are many game modes that encompass all users from casual gamers who are just looking for an exciting match to more hardcore gamers that place emphasis on strategy and cooperation. We have modes like annihilation and escort (unlimited respawns, long killstreaks) to demolition and convoy (1 spawn per map, generally no killstreaks). All are enjoyable for players of all types. Overall this is a game I would recommend to any FPS fan.
