Gore, gibs, fatalities

I am really stoked to see that they made the game so much like an old school shooter. Health packs, armor. You can carry all of your guns, and LOTS of gore. They have added these touches to both the single player and the multiplayer. You can make plenty of xeno chunks when you hit a xeno with a grenade. I can't wait to see what friendly fire looks like in 'ultimate badass' mode.

Here in this video, at 30:05 you can see a melee shotgun execution on a xeno: http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/02/02/ign-live-presents-aliens-colonial-marines

There are numerous inside mandlble 'hole punch' executions done in the MP when they are playing as the xeno in MP. You are given a 60 point XP bonus when doing this.  Also the xeno chops a marines' head off at 43:59.

With the way FPS games have been made for kids recently, I am really glad they didn't go the usual kiddie route with the game, and actually made a game for adults. I am pleasantly suprised how well this game seems to have turned out. I think this might end up being one of the best shooters ever. Maybe my favorite since the original Quake.

I watched the live stream last night on IGN of the 2 hours of gameplay and was really impressed, not something I would normally but I've pre-ordered it primarily because the collectors edition looks nice, and the game looks to be really good too, only realised watching the video though just how good it was, multiplayer looks like it's going to be a blast and so much fun to player whether it's as a marine or a xeno (and hopefully it's reliance on teamwork will put off all the little kids that buy and infest most FPS's today).

Only down side is the graphics, or to be exact this underlying negativity aimed by people at the graphics which I think may put some off think it's a lttle unfair people are blasting the graphics quality.

I don't know, I think the graphics are pretty good for the amount of detail and action going on. I would compare them to maybe Skyrim, since the models have the same cartoon like quality to them. The Skyrim engine is just a modded version of the original Oblivion engine, and A:CM is using a 5+ year old modded Unreal Engine. I think on consoles they are pretty similar in term of graphical fidelity. What I am getting at is, Skyrim right not have the best graphics ever, but I still thought they were awesome, and they did the job well. I think the same can be said for A:CM. The graphics might not be the best ever, but the work. The brilliant thing is, there is not much difference in graphics from the single player to the multiplayer. I am reminded of the newest Wolfenstein. The singleplayer had great graphics for the time, but the multiplayer looked god awful.

I think the detail in the game is probably better than Far Cry 3. In Far Cry the enemies are all the same, and very bland and muddy looking. I am using Far Cry as an example, since you have recently played it (on your gamer card.) Far Cry had great graphics, (minus all the screen tearing,) but the combat lacked that visual punch. When you would shoot or blow stuff up, the enemies just fall over dead. I would have enjoyed the game a lot more, if you could have blown your enemies to bits like you can in A:CM. A:CM doesn't have the best graphics ever, but it does have the kind of stuff that I think is awesome in a game. I might be of the minority now, but I really enjoy when games have over the top violence in them like A:CM does. I think this game is going to have a gritty old school FPS feeling that I really miss from the games of today. I can't wait.

I guess my problem is that the default setting for videos are I think 320p which is what they automatically play in, and I think most people are lazily viewing in the lower setting which gives an artificial view of the games quality, added to that alot of the scenes are dark with little light doesn't allow you to gauge the quality.

You sir are owed an apology, I'm sorry, you were right

I just watched two video's posted up on you tube from someone that has the game early, not sure if it is a proper copy or pirated (not that it would make much difference) but the guy posted up two video's which are  about half an hour in length combined and to be honest it looks so poor, the guy has the brightness up high I think, or maybe that is how it looks I am not sure but it really looks bad, the video was from the 360 version which, as a PS3 user is alarming given how the graphics are usually slightly better on a X-Box than they are on a Playstation.
