Nice review.

I really liked the game, but in the end it became a little boring and repetitive. I would give the PC version 7.5 or 8 just for the beautiful graphics.

P.S. I should add that it was quite a long game by today's standards. It wasn't over in 8 hours like most games these days and it had tons of variety, extras to discover, etc. Great game with a really disturbing story (near the end).

@orthodox1976 yes, really long and addictive! lol the story, I can strangely relate to it, since I had a similar condition not long ago o_O

I just finished this game. I think a 7.0 is a low rating. I loved it! I would have given it at least an 8.5... I would like to see another game in this series. Fun platforming and great world design. Trippy...

Nice game if you're up to discover a fantasy world with nice setting, graphics and music. Since its a platform game and "collecting stuffs", can't help it and felt like games for younger people. Platforming challenges are quite easy with a lot of hints but some levels felt too repetitive until you just wanna get over with by completing it as fast as possible.

Looks A LOT like Dantes Inferno. Right, and I mean the level structures, game mechanics, and well... the attacks. Maybe a little too much like Dantes Inferno for me to try this game.

i know this sounds weird, but i feel like this style of game (not talking about graphics or artwork) looks a lot like old school games like Donkey Kong 64, and sorta Mario 64.. DK 64 is one of my favorite games of all time, so what i'm trying to ask is, is this game kinda like that?

Couldn't disagree more! The game is freaking perfect, and if it manages to bore you, you are just a boring person.

The review is actually quite fair, putting it simply, they are not saying that this game is a 7/10 just because 10 is awesome, they are saying it because, 9 and 10 represent games that really set the bar, Batman Arkham City, Assassins Creed, games where you feel important, where you don't spend 2 hours of platforming and never find a boss or anything the least exciting, the cracks and mistakes are too 2004 pc games, we as gamers are in a new level, and games have to be in pair with that

DamageIncM

btw The voice of Alice sounds too woman-like. More like Lara Croft's voice, while Alice looks like a teenager... Silly...

Looks fantastic, but the game almost seems like an older PS2-game...

@Ares360 were we playing the same game cause this game is really difficult on nightmare but I agree with you on the platforming it felt a little too stretched out but a good game none the less

Never knew this game existed lol, gonna pick it up.

Great game but I have to say I don't think it was worth the full $60, I bought it when it first came out, its great and a sheer blast the first time around but far too easy, even on nightmare difficulty and there really just isn't enough combat in this gorgeous game. I love exploring the world, but i really would have loved more intense combat and less lengthy platforming, still i think this is at least an 8.

@S_W1tch i've bought it and i like it. thank you for your advice.. :)

I need to consider to buy or ignore this game.. help me guys.. "thumbs up" if the game is good (worth the money). "thumbs down" if you think the game not worth buying but worth renting.

I like Kevin as a reviewer, he's probably my favourite.

this review is quite fair in context. i just would have given it an 8.5. while not up with the very best platformers its surprisingly close, and battles are satisfyingly challenging. it's immersion factor is as good as anything, its design and music synced to perfection, and an unexpectedly deep, if sad, storyline. i actually enjoyed the minigames too. i hope there is third installment.

i liked this game...the only thing i found wrong is how repetitive could be some levels...but even so the story and the atmosphere is a good plus...and it is very long

@Calmius I do think that invisible walls can detract from a game, but I don't think they're that drastic. It just depends on how often you encounter them, I suppose.

skeleme
skeleme

@Calmius Gamespot didn't even say a single thing about the invisible walls, when IGN's review was basically all about the invisible walls.

Calmius
Calmius

To reply to skeleme ,I haven't had the time to play this game, but I do think stuff like invisible walls are a pretty serious issue. For example if you think about the highly rated games they would rarely have invisible walls, but would have objects instead.

skeleme
skeleme

IGN Gave the game a 6.5 just because there are invisible walls you can't get through in areas your not even suppose to go

I really am starting to dislike GameSpot reviews...they've all been really harsh for no reason lately. I watched a playthrough of this game on Youtube and I have no idea how they could give it a 7, this is an 8 game for sure...maybe even an 8.5

I do not agree with this review. This game deserves a lot more then a 7.0

I don't see what's wrong with a nice platformer! The creepy art design and everything make it seem like a great game!!

I am extremely disappointed in the review of this game. 7 is way too low. Kevin you dropped the ball here.

Just have to say this game was severely under rated. for people like me who like creative levels and stories this game i a must. game play is simplistic yes but a 7? really?

The sliding sequences look really fun, despite the fact it looks so simple. It reminds me of Mario Sunshine.

I like it's unique art design and twist on the Alice in Wonderland franchise, but it seems like a somewhat mediocre game.

Playing it on Xbox 360.It's really beautiful looking. Maybe the best artistic graphics of the year so far. It's a bit difficult but it's definitely worth trying.

LifeAt45RPMs
LifeAt45RPMs

I have really enjoyed it. I do agree with the review that some of the platforming is a bit stale and overused. However, I think what isn't emphasized enough is just how immersive the world feels. The art mixed with the running theme of insanity are pulled off very very well. I'd give it an 8/10 but I feel the points of criticism are valid even if the score is a bit lower than I expected after playing it.

"It isn't as interesting as looking at it?" Doesn't sound like it's a $60 game.

So far I've played about 3 hours of the game. Yes, it is repetitive, but it doesn't make it bad. If your a sucker for visuals you'll prob like it. I can't put it down. Perhaps that will change. I also loved the original though.

Repetitive to the point of nauseating boredom. I give up on it.

I have this game, and if this game gets 7, then gamespot needs to redo the Infamous 2 review and give it a 9.5. They gave Infamous 2 a 0.5 more than this game. This game is good but Infamous 2 was fantastic.

This wasn't in my radar but your review has changed my mind. The art looks amazing and it's a nice change of pace from all the first person shooters.

Give the Duke Nukem Forever review up already. I loved Duke Nukem 3D but this one is nowhere near as fun. I just wish Gearbox would do another one of Duke and make it right!
