Alan Wake is the best game I've played ever. You play as an author that tries to save his wife alone in the dark woods.

This game is a psychological horror and a survival horror type of game. You play as an author named Alan Wake who writes a story that comes to life. He visits a small city called Bright Falls, WA. You walk into your cabin with your wife Alice who has Achluophobia, fear of the dark. After having an intense argument with Alice about your writing career you find her being dragged underwater by a mysterious lady. You dive into the water to find yourself in the dark woods of Bright Falls.

The story is good because the writer is experiencing the story that he created. I also like how in random parts of the game the lady that kidnapped your wife is always in your head saying stuff like "Alice is dead," or "You can't win,". Also it show's a bunch of flashbacks of Alice in certain parts of the game.

The only enemies in this game are called Taken who are just regular humans filled darkness. Some Taken are huge and armed with a sledgehammer and take more than one shot with a shotgun. Some are small and take one shot with a revolver. Some taken are crows that you shine with light and they die instantly.

The combat in this game is fabulous. You can't kill any enemy in this game without a flashlight or something that produces light. The combat system is good because most of the time you only have light to fight with.

That is what the game pretty much is. You travel through the woods fighting hordes of Taken while meeting only 3 allies. I strongly suggest getting this game. It's a perfect combination of 3rd person shooter, survival horror, and psychological horror.
