Instantly one of my favorite 360 games.

User Rating: 9.5 | Alan Wake X360
If you don't know the story to Alan Wake you are famous writer who is struggling with writers block. You have been treating your wife like crap so you go on vaction in the hopes that you get some much needed R&R and can go back to writing with a fresh mind. However right from the get go when you get into the dinner to get your keys from Mr. Stucky he isn't there and some weird woman dressed in black gives you the keys. You can tell where this is probably going so don't let me spoil it for you.

The bad:

Your jump animation is a bit weak but gladly for you and for me it wasn't really needed. There was some choppy graphics at some points in the game but nothing ruined anything. The last 15 mins of the game, though possible set up for next game hard to tell. Pointless collect side quests(not talking about script pages).

The good:

The story and the little side parts that add to the story. The script pages that give you little hints of whats to come. The general graphical details, the character models and the voice acting. The dark foggy forests and the feeling of never knowing when your going to be ambushed. Running for a light when your over run by bad guys about to die in the hopes you will live to see the next day! The weapons work really well never making you feel to over powered. Very well paced action. The environments are some of the best I have seen in a video game and lastly the load times are very quick so if you find yourself dying a lot you will quickly be pushed back into the fray of things and with lots of check points you will never feel stuck but still challenged.

The average:

Though the game does give you a good feeling that Alan Wake is your average guy not some power house hulking beast. At most times in the game you don't feel over powered and your revolver though usually full of ammo takes a good amount of bullets that when over come by 5 enemies can often cause panic, however there are points when you are very stocked up and that feeling of panic is gone and I find that a bad thing because I think that is what makes Alan wake so effective.

I would recommend this to anyone even if your not a fan of horror games. This game has great action elements with minimal slow down and a great story. You will not regret the experience.
