Silent Hill did it first, did it better, and made the horror more memorable. Still a good game to rent.

User Rating: 7.5 | Alan Wake X360
This game is a fun action packed horror adventure, while it lasts. At around 10 hours there really is no reason to buy this game unless you like the look of the box as it sits in your collection gatering dust. The story, obviously the center point of this game, is in all honesty not that great. By the end I still found myself scratching my head as to what had just happened. The game does shine in numorous areas, voice acting is phenominal and the original soundtrack works perfect to set the creepy tone throghout the game. Still for a game that has been in development for over 5 years it is seriously missing some important factors: Lengthy campaign, better mapping, less screen tearing, more finely tuned fighting mechanic. With all these points missed its hard for me to give this game anything but a 7.5.

Granted this game is a big step forword from other action Adventure games, still with a game that comes off feeling too much like any Silent Hill game, its hard not to compare. Aside from that with the release of another historic game release (Red Dead Redemption) this one takes a back seat in my opinion. Rent this one if your interested in it.
