One of the greatest RPG's of all time

User Rating: 8.6 | Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage N64
This game is by far one of the most fun games i've ever played. being an older game it was still very fun. you are a young squire boy searching for your lost friend who is a farmer. as you are searching for him you get ambushed by a group of gobins and you find out that your friend was killed and you get poisoned. your role is to travel across the land to find a cure. the thing is every time you think you have found the help you are looking for you are sent on another wild goose chase.

as you embark on your journey you are accompanied by a group of friends to assist you during your travels. there are several friends that you can choose from but you are limited to only three in your party. each character that you can choose has thier own special skills and spells that they can learn and weapon skills that can change the outcome of battle and some of the different scenes, but those aren't important, just fun to watch and interesting. don't worry about getting bored of a certian character because there are many more that you will find along the way that you can recruit as well. and if you recruit a character that you don't like then you just go back and pick them up at location that they spesify. The only bad thing is, is that thier level starts over when ther leave your party so be cautious in your choosing.

there is also a wide variety of weapons, shields, and armor that you can find or buy throughout the entire game. there weapons that you can use depends on the skills that you know. If you want to wield any type of sword or dagger then you have to learn the sword skill. If you want to wield axes or maces of clubs then the have to learn the hafted skill. The same goes for the armor and shields as well. except there is only one skill for each of those. one more thing you must have is stength. some of the more powerfull weapons have a certian strength level you must reach before you can use them. As well as spells and you wizard skill. you can also increase the level of your skills by purchasing them with the experience you earn. By increasing the skills of your weapons and spells, whenever you use that type of weapon/spell they become more powerfull.

you will also encounter many enemies with varying power, strength, and skills that you will have to face. most of them you can avoid if you are too weak by using your stealth to sneak past them. or if you just want to get to a certian area fast. If you want to level up and get money, items, and weapons I would suggest fighting as many as you can. you fight everything from Wild animals: bats, rats, wolves, bears etc., creatures: goblins, hobgoblis, chaos mininons etc., and also mythological creatures: minatours, harpies, wyverns and the like ect.

I think you will find that when you play this game you will be very addicted. this is a must have game for the N64. you just wont get the full effect from it otherwise. there is so much to do in this game that you will play it for weeks mabey months. I definitally would recomend this game to anyone who likes in depth RPGs.
