I hope this does not spell the death bell for the series! Oh I forgot they did give up on the series. I have to agree with Redick_is_Magic the game is goofy looking. I guess they are appealing to the console crowd.

I been playing this on beta and its pretty fun and has some interesting ideas. It will be free but pay for exclusive content, and someone mentioned graphics I laughed at that one. The graphics are cartoony which is a artistic style and not bad graphics. Gameplay always is more important than graphics.

well I think aoe2 looks better, think I'll just have a bash on that for my fix. The more i see of this the more it looks like a cartoon version of aoe

Sad they got rid of Ensemble Studios, I know some of Robot Entertainment's workers worked in Ensemble, it's just sad. AOE was my all time favorite strategy game, Hope to see it revitalized one day!

hmm.... this is probably not going to be free, so i will skip it since this is not some kind of game i will be willing to pay for..... and to think of that they once had great games with good graphic and then make it look so childish... not my style

okay i just had shock =\ played this game since im a kid come on age of empires one = EPIC Age of empires II = EPIC Age of Mythology = EPIC Age of Empires III = EPIC to tell the truth this looks kinda cool and interesting but i think they had to stick with the graphics the did in the past and make it better and focus on the combat strategy and units and so on and i wish i saw some old school japan from age of empires one like yamoto =\ i wont say any thing bad but i think that i cant say any thing good lest just hope it will be cool

@jollybest1, Calm down. Microsoft has always had an interest in PC gaming. Naturally when they were trying to conquer the living room they had to to whatever they could do. This included making some of their titles Xbox exclusive. But they don't have that many games, Microsofts gaming division isnt that big either. And if you're right and this is their attempt to become a big player in the PC market then it is a rather sad attempt. You shouldnt get Fable III because it simply is a bad game. Be happy you PC gamers didnt have to witness (and pay for) the decline of the Fable franchise. But this looks like an interesting title. The style isnt exactly my thing but in this age of hyper realistic strategy games it makes sense that an arcade RTS has a style that fits it. I actually think it is sort of brave to make the graphics simple but to the point, in this day of graphi wh*res that is a hard thing to come by.

Wow... You'd think theyd try to make the next aoe better than the last but this... This is kinda sad :/

I wish I had the ability to judge what a game is like based on a short promo video. However, I'll go with experience instead. This game plays like a combination of the AoE & AoE II with the home city of AoE III thrown in. It is more of an AoE game than AoE III or either of the expansions were. Don't let the art style throw you. Use your brain, not just your eyes. Talk to someone in the beta.

microsoft didn't released a good game for pc since age of mythology, and now they kill aoe , oh hell aoe died when the 3 rd was released, i hate microsoft's game division i hate them more every year , stay with your xbox.... now that you see that the pc market is doing well and steam is growing you started to release games for pc (i will not buy fable 3 and this game is dead since aoe2 and aom)

This looks pretty bad. They pretty much have butchered AoE. AoE was never a good game to begin with but this takes it and makes it that much worse.

what the hell is this????????? at this rate i wouldnt be surprised if in a couple years google or something will develop an OS that will take over windows and microsoft will regret doing crap like this. RIP AOE

To Age of Empires veterans, I would suggest that you keep this thought in mind: Microsoft didn't make this for you - it made this for money (specifically from micro-transactions), and more importantly, Microsoft isn't indebted to you to make another Age of Empires game (that isn't like this one). That said, I also suggest looking elsewhere other than Microsoft's RTS games. It's not like theirs are the only ones worth playing.

they should keep to the original gameplay while adding this as an option if you like. i for one would miss the the online deathmatches :/ i thought the next one would be a wwI sort of game. still looks interesting, just wish they didnt have such cartoony crappy graphics ¬_¬

The graphics make the game a joke. They shouldn't name it AOE, it's an insult to the franchise.
