    this is a very annoying error i keep getting. i have disconnected the router and modem for awhile, and even changed the ip adress, and this error still persists. how do i fix this.

    Are you connected to a wireless network or wired connection to begin with? Since you have power cycled your network hard drive and change your IP address, I could advise you to upgrade your firmware on the router itself. If you have tried Port Forwarding, change the following UDP and TCP/IP to 2300-2310 in terms of actual ports. If it still doesn't work, change it than to 2300-2340. Some routers even have a gaming mode, which, you should be able to activate if nothing else works. As always, make sure you have Age of Empires 3 and it's other expansion packs as exceptions on your Firewall.
