I'm wary but willing to give it a chance. I got used to the Mayans and Aztecs, after all.

Ok so I just had a quick game, my thoughts:
Overall it's quite nice, well polished and I didn't run into any bugs (admittedly I only played about 20 minutes).
The first thing that struck me was that the AI is much better than before (it was on Moderate). I was playing Incas vs Franks and they rushed me with cavalry. I tried to hide my villigers in the TC and let it kill the Cavs but the AI kept its units just outside of the range of the town centre (as opposed to attacking it like they used to).
The new art wasn't all that noticable (at least as Incas) but when you looked at it you could tell there were some differences.
Incas unique unit (they're like an overglorified pikeman) looked cool but didn't seem all that strong.
Seems like a fun mod that will give me a few hours of playtime but I haven't had much time to explore so maybe there is more depth to it than what I have seen so far.
It still feels like AoE2 which is a good thing.

Right, I wouldn't use it if it changed the game for me-- but as it is, it's not that much unlike the Conquerors expansion was. New techs, new civs, new units, new art, balance issues and that's all.
But the AI is really slaughtering me pretty bad, except for on closed maps, where they are quite weak. Guess I was never as good as I thought!

Yeah i losr on moderate :/ its nice though, since even hardest were a non issue before if you built walls/defenses.

The AI is sooooooooooooooo much better, I am impressed.
The new civs seem tasteful and fit in nicely with the rest while feeling new and unique.

Custom Campaigns (under Single Player). Similarly, you find the new maps under Custom maps and new scenarios under Custom Scenarios.

Finally got AoFE to work on Voobly. The key is to not install the official version of AoFE from their website, instead, just install the file that Voobly provides, this has the full game in it and won't mess up your original AoC install.

My wife and I struggled but were able to beat a Moderate on settings that (for us) are very comfortable/familiar/easy. Black Forest, Giant map, High starting resources, pop cap 200.

No, it was me and my wife vs. one moderate.

The AI is so much better now, it isn't even funny. I managed to go toe-to-toe with a moderate on the new settings, but I guess that's the extent of my ability, since I used to have no problem with Hardest enemies.

I've been liking the Incas and Italians. Italians could more than likely become my new favorite civ (sorry Byzantines :<
