How much of a visual improvement is this?

From the video, I barely saw much of a difference.
And with things like Voobly, mods and such, that let you go to higher resolutions,
are we already playing in "HD"?
I'm sold on the steam online support though. Hopefully I can play more people from the US, instead of constantly facing people from far away countries.

They specifically said the terrain, fire and water, and lighting would all be visually enhanced. Of course the upped-resolution helps clean up the overall look as well.

With Steamworks support I'm sure there will be mods for better sprites and things of that nature.

The reason they didn't do more about the graphics is because the community specifically requested them not to.

I want them to retain the graphics for the most part but made them easier on the eye. It seems like they've done that. I also hope they have increased the population cap.

They probably won't have but I'm willing to bet that within a month there'll be a population mod on the workshop.
