Great story, disappointing game. For dedicated mystery adventurer gamers only.

I had high hopes for this game as I was really in the mood for a great mystery. I was excited about the Wii version of this game because my wife much prefers me spending time in the family room playing a game than up in my office on my PC.

Now flash back to 1997. No, that's not when this story takes place but you'll feel like you are playing a game created for the Pentium II processor. Although the actual artwork in the game is well done, the static style of the screens leaves much to be desired. There are about 100 "views" in the entire game and you get to know them very well because of the annoying gameplay. As you progress through the game, you make discoveries, talk to characters, and solve puzzles. My main issue with this game was the fact that after an event occurs in the game, you don't have any clear direction of what you are suppose to do next to get the game to go on. This has nothing to do with your skill as an adventure gamer. You end up having to revisit many if not all of the 100 screens looking for what has changed on that screen since the last event. For example, once I had to search the whole house to find a character that was in a small bathroom before I could have the conversation with him that would force the game to continue.

Some of the puzzles are well done and others are just inane. Is it realistic to get through a piece of vegetation by using goats to eat through it when there are shovels and axes handy?

There really is nothing to say about the Wii interface. There are a handful of screens that shows a special animation where you have to use the Wii to move things about. Other than that, there is no real Wii integration in the game besides opening doors.

Despite all this criticism, I did enjoy working the way through the story probably because it's a GREAT STORY that the game creators didn't write but the master mystery author Agatha Christie did.

In summary: great story, disappointing game. Play it only if you are really in the mood for a mystery and there are no other mystery games released for the Wii. (There aren't yet at the time of this writing).
