"EX" options for arcade mode allow you to customize your shooter experience.

When I initially played through After Burner Climax's arcade mode the first few times, I thought the game was "okay." At the default arcade settings, I felt like the controls were a little more complicated than I like to deal with in a shooter... I prefer a more simplified control scheme so I am more focused on aiming than regulating my speed, etc. Luckily, once you've played through the arcade mode enough times, you begin unlocking EX "options" that can affect game play. Once I had unlocked some options that make the game easier (and in my opinion, more fun) I was addicted. I played for several hours until I unlocked every EX option and got all 200 Gamerscore points. It really is a good pick-up-and-play game that combines old school, on-rails arcade shooter FUN with modern visuals.

Pros:

-Very nice visual effects, especially smoke trials and explosions. Very nice, visually varied level design as well.

-Good audio. I like the option to use the old school After Burner II sound track and effects as well.

-EX options add variety and replayability to the standard arcade mode.

Cons:

-As is the case with many shooters, the game is short. Also, it would have been more fun if there were some sort of "boss fight" at the end of each level.
