Same toilet, new door

User Rating: 4.7 | AFL Premiership 2007 PS2
The best way to describe this game is just an update to AFL 2006. They've fixed a lot of the major annoying bugs in 2006, but they've replaced them with even more annoying bugs for 2007.
The addition of heritage guernseys is a great addition, but doesn't wipe the bad taste out of your mouth.
The gameplay takes some time to get used to, but after about 3 games i was once again beating the CPU by 50 points, in 2 min qtrs on hard. It is a lot slicker than last year's efforts, however the bugs (as is an IR Gurus tradition) once again get in the way of what could've been a great game. It is quite fun to play, but the bugs keep rearing their ugly heads and make you want to throw your controller.
The graphics are sub standard for a PS2 game, but considering the amount of players on screen at once, they did a good job. The guernseys look great, however the players wearing them could use some work. Without looking at the numbers on their backs, you'll only be able to recognize people with distinct features such as a bald head or long sleeves.
The sound is terrible. Harsh, but true. The crowd reacts like it's a round of golf. And Dennis Cometti spurts out the same lines over and over again. Some lines are very muffles and sound like they were recorded under water.
The value from this game is not good at all. I forked out over $70 for ALF 06 (the same for each installment prior to that as well), and the same again for 07 and really all they've done in the entire year since the last installment is glamoured it up a bit. Like i said, some bugs are gone but there are more than enough new ones to make up for it. I think i should apply for a job as a QA at IR Gurus, as after only 1 hour i'd found so many things that need fixing.

All in all, if you're a die hard AFL fan then you'll find the reasoning to buy it. After all, it's not like you have any alternatives.
