while its allmost te same for a 4'th year in a row it still has some AFL charm and decent action

User Rating: 8 | AFL Premiership 2007 PS2
AFL premiership 2007 is the ONLY AFL game around so really its your only choice for an AFL gaming experience, while the core game is the same as some of the company's very first AFL games. The core system is still some what fun to play, but really the game lacks from unresponsive controls and dated graphics with blocky charcter models and some flawed commentating.

GAMEPLAY:
Nothing really to it you run mark and kick the ball, theres a few new things added into the mix its now much harder to aim your kick for a goal since you have a metre and a ball in the metre and you have to time it corrctly to kick the goal. still the controls are hard to get used to i took me a few games to learn how to mark and proply tackle. There is still some frame rate isues but but mindblowing games like god of war the graphics should have no problem running on the ps2's engine. Kicking and marking is still the same you can run and kick and now its not so easy to over power your kick but still takes a while to get used to marking, kicking and handpassing. The AI in the game is somewhat advance and since it uses a WHOPPING 1600+KB to store data on your memory card I couldent make any save data due to the lack of space I had and the amout it required wich just seemed redilceous, bu you do need to be able to save to make CUSTOM changes to any setting wich was a real bummer.

DESIGN:
The career mode is when you pick your favoute team and play and intire season of football with your favoute team either the pre-season or the normal season, each one is mostly the same but pre-season has slghty modified rules. but if you watch football and are intersted in playing this game you should allready know this. One ofthe game biggest flaws are the commontaiters they can have bugs were they repeat the same thing over and over again, they even use some of the same dilogue from AFL games from nerly 3-4 years ago O_>
You also have a little training mode wich helps you test moves wich is highly reccomended even if you have played previous years. But what the gameplay really comes down to is kicking and handpassing with some marking normal fotty stuff occassional peanty's are handed out for foul play (wich can be axdental or purpose its your choice ;)
the game also features a huge roster of the current player for this year wich is a good bonus, on the bottom of the screen in a little box it displays what charcter you are playing as wich add some value to the game.

GRAPHICS:
Its no marble actuall its basicly the same as AFL live 2003 allmost with just a little bit of buffering but compared to sme hih profile game its nothing. The game has blocky charcter models, unatural looking animations with a few frame rate flaws. The hole graphics in general arnt to great though the stadiums do look nice at least and repersent there real life counterparts.

SOUND:
The sound of crouds rawing the commentators and wissles with the sound of booting that otty hasent felt better while its normal stuff its good stuff. The sound is mostly recyled but its still great enjoyable and overall the best part of this game is the sound really, its tat thing that sets the tone. but the only b thing about the sound is the commentators they just repeat and there dilogue is recyled from previous games wich gets old, I would of really liked to see a hole new set of dilogue for the commentators but it just wasent there.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
AFL premiership 2007 is yet again aother attempt to cash in on the AFL franchise in australia, while its good its not must have, you allready have played alot of the previous games and you have to have some updated stuff defantly rent thi one, but for first timers look for the a current AFL game you cant reall go wrong with AFL premiership 2007 I at least reccomend t check it out.
