Advent Rising is a terrifically written, action-packed third person shooter I've ever seen.

Wow...that's all I can pretty much say right now. Wow! Ever since I saw the trailer at Star Wars Ep. III, I knew I was getting this game. I got it, and it's just amazing. The game takes place in a Halo like situation-the human race is being threatened by a hostile alien race and is on the brink of extinction. You play as Gideon Wyeth, a pilot for the Earth military. When the foreign alien race, known better as the Seekers, attacks the space station he and his loved ones are on, it's up to Gideon to save not only his loved ones, but the entire human race. He turns to a peaceful alien race to teach him some very cool psychic powers to destroy this hostile alien threat. The game plays pretty well, but there are many glitches, and it has a slow frame rate. The powers at your disposal are fun, and amazing to use, so are the weapons, but there aren't a large variety of them-12 to be exact. I do love the dual wielding system though. This one ups Halo because you can throw grenades while dual wielding, which just makes the game a little less stressful. The flick-targeting system is a little tough to get a hang of, but it'll be worth it once you start to slaughter your foes like worthless pieces of garbage. The visuals are near perfect, with accurate mouth movements to match voice acting, and also amazing environments and special effects. But once again, small glitches and a slow frame rate bring this down a little. My favorite part about this game is the music. The music mixes a great variety of action movie-ish music, and also some tear jerking, dramatic music. All around it's an amazing soundtrack. This game rocks, and all those out there calling it a Halo-ripoff should change your mind.
